Modern outpatient facility opens for Portsmouth communities
Solent NHS Trust has opened the doors on a modern outpatient facility in heart of a Portsmouth neighbourhood.
Since Spring this year, restoration and remodelling work has been underway at the former Jubilee House site on Medina Road in Cosham to make the building and overall site ready to receive rehabilitation outpatients relocated from the Queen Alexandra Hospital (QAH) permanently.
The move to Jubilee House has involved the whole Musculoskeletal (MSK) area on D Level at the QAH relocating together in one move, whilst the Neuro Gym and Hydrotherapy pool remains on-site in the rehab building at the QAH.
The first service users have attended appointments this week for consultation and therapy services in the modern and high-quality setting which includes modern consulting rooms, a gym and spaces for outdoor activities and group room facilities.
Solent’s multidisciplinary Estates team, alongside contractor, BIS, have carefully designed and reconfigured the former inpatient site into an accessible and easy-to-navigate environment, with dedicated parking spaces close to the main entrance to support the daily turnover of patients.
Andrew Strevens, Chief Executive, Solent NHS Trust, said: “We are really pleased to have given a new lease of life to Jubilee House, and sensitively adapt it for the next part of its history in delivering great care in the heart of the local community.
“We look forward to welcoming service users to receive high quality, personalised care and support for their rehabilitation needs for years to come.”
