Industrial action – two periods in August
Services across Hampshire and the Isle of Wight will be affected by strike action involving members of the British Medical Association (BMA), including those at Solent NHS Trust.
Junior doctor members of the BMA will take part in continuous strike action from 7am on Friday 11 August until 7am on Tuesday 15 August before hospital consultants take action for 48 hours on 24 and 25 August.
BMA members employed by Solent NHS Trust and other specific Trusts across Hampshire and the Isle of Wight will participate in the planned strike action.
The safety of patients is of the upmost importance at all times.
As with previous rounds of industrial action, we have worked to make sure that people most in need continue to receive care. We have also planned carefully with staff to ensure that we can continue to provide safe care whilst supporting their right to take industrial action if they choose.
Our teams have made every effort to contact people whose appointments are affected. If you have not heard from us, please attend your appointment as planned.
NHS England’s South East Medical Director, Vaughan Lewis, said: “Thank you to everyone for continuing to help us during the industrial action.
“Please continue to use NHS services responsibly as junior doctors strike for the fifth time.
“We are urging anyone with non-urgent care need to first seek help from NHS 111 online and only use 999 in a life-threatening emergency.”
