Industrial action – 20-23 December
Services across Hampshire and the Isle of Wight (HIOW) will be affected by strike action involving members of the British Medical Association (BMA), including those at Solent NHS Trust.
Junior doctor members of the BMA will take part in continuous strike action from 7am on Wednesday 20 December until 7am on Saturday 23 December.
BMA members employed by Solent NHS Trust and other specific Trusts across the HIOW geography will participate in the planned strike action.
The safety of patients is always of the upmost importance.
As with previous rounds of industrial action, we have worked to make sure that people most in need continue to receive care. We have also planned carefully with staff to ensure that we can continue to provide safe care whilst supporting their right to take industrial action if they choose.
Our teams have made every effort to contact people whose appointments are affected. If you have not heard from us, please attend your appointment as planned.
Dr Dan Baylis, Chief Medical Officer at Solent NHS Trust, said: “We join our healthcare colleagues across Hampshire and the Isle of Wight to ask residents to continue to use NHS services responsibly and to seek the most appropriate medical care they need, particularly at a time when demand is considerably significant.”
A range of GP practices and pharmacies will continue to be open, and if you think you need medical help right now, 111 online can tell you what to do next.
