Solent NHS Trust partners with Isle of Wight NHS Trust to support community health services on the Island

The Isle of Wight NHS Trust is pleased to have appointed their final partner to support the delivery of healthcare services on the Isle of Wight.

Solent NHS Trust, who are already IOW NHS partners supporting the delivery of the Mental Health and Learning Disabilities services, have been chosen to support the community health services.

This announcement completes a programme of identifying flagship partnerships for the IOW NHS trust including:

  • South Central Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust for IOW Ambulance service
  • Portsmouth Hospitals University NHS Trust for Acute services

Solent NHS partnership for community healthcare services

The strategic partnership will see the two NHS Trusts working together to continuously improve quality of care and patient outcomes; making a difference by enabling more people to remain safe and well in their own home whenever possible.

It will be an opportunity for the trusts to work together, sharing ideas and supporting one another for the benefit of local people.

This successful partnership comes one year after it was announced that Solent NHS Trust would be partnering with the Isle of Wight Trust to support the delivery of mental health services across the Isle of Wight.

Maggie Oldham, Chief Executive at Isle of Wight NHS Trust, said: “We are really excited about the benefits of this partnership and what the future holds. Solent will bring valuable support in our transformation journey to deliver the Isle of Wight Health and Care Plan and we look forward to working together as we continue to make the Island the place to receive great community healthcare.”

Andrew Strevens, Acting Chief Executive at Solent NHS Trust, said: “We are excited to be building on our partnership work with the Isle of Wight NHS Trust, sharing best practice and learning for the benefit of all residents on the Island and across the wider Solent region.

“We have a wealth of experience in providing community services to both children and adults. We believe passionately in a ‘Home First’ approach which prioritises patient outcomes and experience and keeps people at, or close to, home with their families and loved ones.”

“Solent is committed to supporting Isle of Wight health care, and are looking forward to working with staff and people in the local community.”
