Apprenticeship Week: Ellie's story
Ellie Peplinski is currently in the final year of her Registered Mental Health Nursing apprenticeship after starting it in 2021. Despite not yet finishing her apprenticeship, Ellie’s hard work has already been recognised in the local community as she recently attended the Solent University awards and took home the prestigious ‘Apprentice of the Year’ award.
Speaking to us about her journey so far, Ellie said: “Doing the apprenticeship has helped me gain a lot of confidence in myself. Studying whilst working has taught me several skills, including prioritising tasks, time management and public speaking – which I’ll be able to utilise throughout my career. I have had the opportunity to have placements within a variety of teams within my the Trust which has allowed me to network and build a better understanding of the services that we offer.
“In August 2024, I hoped to have completed my apprenticeship and become a registered Mental Health Nurse in the Older Persons department, which I am looking forward to. I’ve felt really supported by Solent and the university; I would recommend an apprenticeship to anyone who is considering it.”
