Referral criteria
Men and Women aged 18 years and over who have a cognitive neurological impairment and who have rehabilitation needs that require the skill of at least three members of the multidisciplinary team. Patients must have the potential to benefit significantly from time limited involvement.
A cost per case service with no geographical boundaries.
Full service description
A neuro psychiatric rehabilitation service for individuals with a brain injfury whose impairments are largely in the cognitive, behavioural or mental health spectrum.
Providing multidisciplinary care to help with assessment, treatment, rehabilitation and disability management for people requiring slow stream rehabilitation that may not be available from other services.
Referral method
Referrals from any health professional.
Other information & documentation
Exclusion Criteria We are unable to meet the needs of:
individuals with non-neurological problems or multi pathology.
Patients with neuro-degenerative diseases where the current problem does not need specialised neuro rehabilitation.
Although a locked environment, it is not a secure unit. Individuals that require more intensive psychiatric/behaviour services will not be admitted and/or may be referred to other services after assessment.

Special Notice
The Kite Unit is an inpatient unit that is open 24 hours 7 days a week.
Visiting times are between 2-4pm and 6-8pm every day. Alternative times can be pre-arranged with the Nursing Team.
