Crisis Resolution Home Treatment Team (CRHT)
The Crisis Resolution Home treatment team are part of the available support for those suffering with mental ill health in Portsmouth. CRHT are a team of experienced mental health nurses, Social workers, Occupational Therapists, support workers, doctors and a psychologist.
What we offer
CRHT aim to provide safe and effective home-based assessments and treatment for adults experiencing urgent mental health problems. Urgent is defined as otherwise requiring hospital admission within 48 hours. Where appropriate, these services are provided as an alternative to hospital admission.
CRHT will support people by telephone, or home visit according to clinical need. We may undertake an assessment or appointment visit on the St Mary’s Community Campus site, by prior arrangement.
Sometimes CRHT will receive a referral and may consider another service more appropriate. Transfer to this service will be completed with consideration given to your needs and risks.
There is no facility at St Mary’s for self-presentation, so please do not come to St Mary’s Hospital unless you have an appointment with CRHT. CRHT do not currently accept self-referrals.

CRHT will make contact with you (service user) within four hours of receiving the referral and will try to see you within 24-48 hours or sooner if necessary for an assessment.
CRHT are available seven days a week, 24 hours a day all year. We provide a reduced service from 10pm - 8am (overnight), including telephone support for service users under secondary mental health care.
Emergencies
CRHT are not an emergency service and are unable to support with threats of violence or harm. If you have immediate concerns about yours or someone you care for safety, please call the Police on 999.
Referral criteria
People over 18, who are currently seeing another mental health professional or team within Solent NHS Trust can self-refer by telephone.
If you are not currently receiving support from Mental Health Services in Portsmouth, we are unable to accept self-referral at this time. Please firstly contact your GP or call 111. This service has Mental Health Practitioners available to offer support and are able to make onward referral to the correct service to meet your needs.

Referral method
Professional referrals are accepted for adults over the age of 18, experiencing a mental health crisis. CRHT accepts referral from a variety of different professionals and services including the police and other qualified Mental Health professionals. CRHT encourage you to call to discuss any concerns. CRHT may however direct you to another more appropriate team or service in the first instance.
CRHT also act as the Single Point of Access (SPA) for Adult Mental Health referrals.
