Full service description

The Community Paediatric Medical Service sees children under the age of five years with concerns about developmental delay, including speech delay, global delay, motor delay and hearing and visual problems. Over 5 years of age we see children with generalised learning difficulties to assess if there is a medical cause for their difficulties. We see children with physical disabilities up to 16 years.

We assess medical conditions for children who have/need an Education and Health Care Plan.

We also deliver a service for examination of child protection cases and we provide a weekend on-call service to deliver forensic medical examinations to any child under 13 who may have been subject to sexual abuse.

Our paediatricians, along with other Solent Children's Services, are involved in autism assessments. We also provide some services in some special schools.
