Full service description

Community paediatricians provide a child protection medical service for children who may have experienced abuse. The service aims to focus on the physical and emotional health needs of children and young people with their carers.

Children and young people may attend pre-booked appointments at a clinic; in some circumstances where there are recent signs or symptoms they may be seen urgently.

Paediatricians work closely with the specialist nursing team and, where necessary, with colleagues from the Police and social services to ensure the best possible health care is provided for the client.

The service consists of community paediatricians and specialist nurses.

Callers seeking advice about a non-urgent situation will be called back by a specialist nurse or the Named or Designated Doctor.
