Military Mental Health Alliance

We are delighted to have launched our Hampshire and Isle of Wight Military Mental Health Alliance. Working in partnership we are creating interconnected services designed by our Military Family that puts veterans, serving personnel, reservists and their family’s at the heart of everything that we do for those who are willing to sacrifice so much for the safety and security we all enjoy.

The Alliance supports, informs and advises the delivery of programmes to support our armed forces communities. This informal alliance is open to all interested organisations across Hampshire and the isle of Wight.
Current members include:

Age UK Portsmouth, Alabare, All Call Signs, Berkshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust, Breaking Barriers Innovation, Cygnet Healthcare, ExForcesNet, Fighting with Pride, First Light Trust, Forgotten Veterans UK, Hampshire Constabulary, HIVE Portsmouth, IOW Council, IOW NHS Trust, Naval Families Federation, NHS Portsmouth CCG, Portsmouth City Council, Portsmouth Hospitals University NHS Trust, Princess of Wales Royal Regiment, Rowans Hospice, Royal Naval Benevolent Trust, The Royal Navy, Royal Navy & Royal Marines Charity, Society of St James, Solent Armed Forces Covenant Partnership, Solent Mind, Solent NHS Trust, Southern Health NHS Foundation Trust, Togetherall, Veterans Outreach Support (VOS), Walking With the Wounded, Berkshire Healthcare NHS Trust, The Ripple Pond, The Company of Makers.

Our Programme

Phase 1 

Deliver new services to provide rapid and tailored support for veterans and their families in crisis:

•PositiveMinds - open access to support from Veterans Wellbeing Advisors – opened December 2019

•Solent Recovery College - a new veterans’ co-produced curriculum at the– new term started October 2020

Funded by Armed Forces Covenant Fund “Tackling Serious Stress” programme.

Phase 2 
Extend the reach of the new services in phase 1 to the families of serving personnel in Portsmouth & the wider geography.
Phase 3 
A regional Mental Health High Intensity Service (HIS) for veterans. Our service model has been co-produced with people with lived experience – veterans, families and those still serving. The service maximises the efficacy of established NHS resources and pathways (SCAS/NHS 111, local mental health teams and integration of TILS and CTS with HIS.
