iPrescribe Exercise

iPrescribe Exercise is a free, evidence-based iOS app which analyses the user's health and produces a personalised 12 week physical activity programme that gradually helps you to increase your activity levels. 

NHS fitness studio

Take your pick from 24 instructor-led videos in aerobics, strength and resistance, pilates and yoga categories.

Workouts have been created by fitness experts and range from 10 minutes to 45 minutes.

Southampton exercise referral scheme

The Get Active programme has been designed to offer a structured health & wellbeing programme for adults in Southampton who meet certain referral criteria. These criteria are:

  • You do less than 30 minutes of activity which leaves you out of breath, five times per week.
  • You have a medical condition.

Portsmouth exercise referral scheme

Ask your GP, consultant, nurse or physiotherapist for a referral form. All you’ll pay to join the scheme is a £7 welcome fee. For this you’ll to get an hour’s consultation to explore your medical history, followed by a personalised 12-week programme of discounted indoor and outdoor activities. It’ll be a mix of referral-specific classes, complemented by mainstream sessions in the gym, pool or studio, and possibly some exercises you can do at home.

Active Nation - Exercise and group activities across varied locations including Bitterne leisure Centre, Chamberlayne sports centre, Woodmill outdoors activity centre and The Quays swimming complex.

Saints Foundation - Exercise classes for over 35s ran by the Southampton FC charity. Varied Southampton locations. You can refer yourself to their 'pathways to health' scheme here.

The Sporting Memories Association - Weekly group meetings, discussions and light physical activities. A club in Southampton and Eastleigh.

My Journey Southampton - Useful walking and cycling groups and route ideas, local to Southampton.  Followed by a cuppa and a chat!

Woolston Community Centre - Classes including yoga, box-fit, taekwondo and ladies keep fit.

Lordshill Community Association - A variety of classes and groups including yoga, taekwondo and line dancing.

Oaklands Community Pool - Over 70 sessions open to the community over a main pool and learner pool.

Places Leisure Eastleigh (formally Fleming Park) - Swimming, aquafit and several gym based classes eg Body pump.

Red Lodge Community Pool -  A wide range of sessions from swimming lessons to pool parties, fun sessions, lane swims, general public swimming and aqua fit. Based in Bassett.

Aqua Silver Exercise ClassesThe Oasis swimming pool at Queen Alexandra Hospital holds a group called 'Aqua Silver'. You can self-refer to this programme of water based exercises and classes are for anyone with a musculoskeletal condition, such as RA.

Horizon Leisure Centre (Havant and Waterlooville) Variety of gym classes e.g. Posture Pilates

Havant and Waterlooville exercise referral scheme

Horizon Leisure Centres 12 week exercise referral scheme at Havant and Waterlooville is a structured course of physical activity. You will get a personal activity plan from an exercise instructor, and gives you a 12 week opportunity to use the gym, swim facilities and attend exercise classes at your local leisure as agreed by your personal exercise instructor centre for reduced fees.  You will need to be referred by your health professional or GP. You can download the referral form and request to be referred.
