The Children’s Outreach Assessment and Support Team (C.O.A.S.T) are a team of experienced children’s nurses who will assess children at home. Children can be referred to the team to monitor their progress and the aim is to provide high quality nursing care, ensuring a safe and speedy recovery at home.
Children aged 0-16 who are registered with a Southampton City GP with one of the following diagnoses:
> Gastroenteritis
> Viral URTI
> Chest Infection
> Bronchiolitis
> Croup
> UTI
> Tonsilitis
> URTI
> Febrile Convulsions
> Acute Asthma Exacerbation
> Viral induced wheeze

The service is open on Bank Holidays 9.30am to 5.30pm. It is closed on Christmas Day. If you feel your child becomes unwell
outside the working hours of the team

The Children's Outreach Assessment and Support Team, known as COAST, is a team of experienced children's nurses whose role is to provide nursing assessments and monitor progress in the child's home. The service is usually available to a child for 48-72 hours, after which further plans for the child's continued care can be arranged if necessary with the relevant professionals, such as the GP or hospital.

Please note that the COAST team is not an emergency service and any messages left outside of working hours will not be picked up until the following morning.
