Islanders can receive their first or second COVID-19 vaccination at the Riverside Vaccination Centre in Newport.

Anyone aged 16 and over can walk in on the dates listed below to receive their jab. Vaccines are offered on a first come, first served basis, and there may be a short wait for people to receive their vaccine.

Second vaccinations are available at the walk-ins if it has been at least eight weeks since the first dose.

Those people eligible for a booster (third dose) will be invited by the NHS directly, either through a GP-led service or be contacted by the NHS to book through the national COVID-19 vaccination booking service to get their jab at the Riverside.

The Riverside Vaccination Centre, run by Solent NHS Trust, has been offering residents their jabs since it opened its doors on 1 February 2021.

Angela Anderson, Clinical Director of the Vaccination Programme at Solent NHS Trust, said: “Receiving the vaccination continues to be the best way to protect yourself and others against becoming seriously ill with COVID-19. I would strongly encourage those people who have not yet received their first dose, or need to have their second vaccine, to take up the offer.

“We’ve received a really positive response from people who have visited the centre to receive their vaccination and I’m incredibly grateful to all the volunteers and staff who have ensured the smooth running of the centre since it opened.”

Pfizer first and second vaccines will be available to everyone over the age of 16 on:

  • Tuesday 19 October – 2pm-7.45pm
  • Saturday 30 October – 8am-2.45pm
  • Every Friday between 5 November until 17 December – 2pm-7.45pm

AstraZeneca first and second vaccines will be available to those over the age of 40 on:

  • Thursday 21 October – 2pm-4.45pm
  • Thursday 28 October – 2pm-4.45pm
  • Every Wednesday between 3 November until 15 December – 8am-12.15pm
