Visitor guidance

Visiting our hospitals

Given that cases of COVID-19 have increased in local community and hospital settings, we are encouraging everyone visiting our hospital sites to be mindful of socially distancing as well as considering hands, face and space as much as possible.

Please use the alcohol gel available when entering sites

On arrival at the hospital and ward

For those people who are visiting inpatient areas, we ask that you wear a face mask or covering.

Please do not attend our sites if you feel unwell or have had a temperature within the last 48 hours.  If you are unsure please contact the ward or department first.

Individuals who have communication needs, please do make a relevant member of Solent staff aware, and they will do their utmost to accommodate your needs so you can interact with them effectively.

The use of face coverings when coming to hospital at Solent NHS Trust

People infected with COVID-19 can have very mild or no respiratory symptoms (asymptomatic) and can transmit the virus to others without being aware of it.

We are currently asking all visitors to inpatient areas to wear a face mask to keep themselves, patients, and staff safe.

If you are exempt or unable to wear a mask please make a relevant member of Solent staff aware and they will provide you with the relevant advice to keep yourself and others safe.

We can all play a role in reducing the spread of coronavirus and keeping our hospitals safe.

Face coverings can be cloth and/or homemade. For some people, wearing a face covering may be difficult due to physical or mental health conditions. In these instances, other measures will be considered.

If you are a deaf or hearing impaired, our staff have a range of communication options to ensure that they can communicate effectively with you. This might include visual aids such as writing things down, speech to text apps and sign language.

All visitors are encouraged to consider social distancing and hand hygiene measures while in the hospital setting.

If you have further questions regarding the changes we have made across the Trust, please ask a member of staff.
