Our learning

Our learning following an independent investigation by Niche Patient Safety into the care and treatment of a mental health service user (Mr C)

Solent NHS Trust provides community and mental health services and it is our aim to consistently provide the very best care possible for anyone who uses our services.

We put individuals and their families at the heart of our decision making and our Trust is committed to understanding the needs and views of the people who use our services. By listening to you, we can continue to improve our services.

Being open and transparent is of vital importance to us, which is why we always work hard to understand what went wrong and where we can improve if we fall short of expectations.

You can click here to read a report published on the NHS England website. The report commissioned by NHS England, was written by Niche Patient Safety, and is an independent investigation into the care and treatment of a mental health service user (Mr C) in Solent NHS Trust.

The report looks at how the Trust responded to the serious incident which involved Mr C, and investigates the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Since this incident, which took place on May 11 2013, Solent NHS Trust has taken important steps to ensure that the recommendations and advice outlined in this report have been put into practice.
