Top Ten Statements

  1. The Trust has embraced the Equality Delivery System (EDS2) and Workforce Race Equality Standard (WRES) from NHS England to improve our equality and diversity performance.
  2. Our equality objectives include (i) better health outcomes for all; (ii) improved patient access and experience; (iii) empowered, engaged and supported staff; and (iv) inclusive leadership at all levels.
  3. We have launched a new steering committee; the Equality Impact Group (EIG) meets quarterly to strengthen our governance and reporting to equality and diversity.
  4. We have launched a new Equality Standard across our clinical divisions. Based on the EDS2, evidence submitted is scrutinised against standard criteria and is assessed against a bronze, silver and gold award.
  5. Diversity Moments is our equality and diversity training programme. We have designed 12 learning modules that aim to improve the cultural capability of the workforce.
  6. VOX POP is our equality and diversity brand to drive people engagement. We will engage with clinical and corporate divisions to improve awareness of equality and diversity and gather feedback in regard to our equality plan.
  7. We will measure our equality performance through our workforce diversity scorecard. The scorecard aims to improve our employee relations performance by analysing the effect of human resource policies by groups protected by the Equality Act 2010.
  8. We have designed equality audit toolkits to evaluate our performance. These include (i) Patient access and experience in-depth review toolkit; (ii) Interpreting and translation in-depth review toolkit and (iii) WRES questionnaire for individual and group engagement.
  9. The trust has published its Workforce Race Equality Standard (WRES) on the website and designed an action plan to demonstrate improvement against the nine metrics in a sustainable way.
  10. A summary of our findings and progress on the EDS2 and WRES will be reported within our new Annual Equality and Inclusion Report for display on our website no later than 1 July 2016 and annually thereafter.
