Publication Scheme

What is a publication scheme?

A publication scheme is a document which describes the information the Trust publishes, or intends to publish. In this context, 'publish' means to make information available, routinely.

These descriptions are called 'Classes of Information'. The scheme is not regarded as a list of the actual publications, It is, however, the Trust’s commitment to make available the information described within each class, if held.

The publication scheme sets out the classes, or categories, of information published. It also makes clear where the information described can be accessed.

Solent NHS Trust has a statutory responsibility to plan services for the people it serves. This publication scheme is designed to ensure that the Trust's work/plans are transparent and available to the public as well as all our staff.

The Trust's publication scheme specifies seven classes of information. To maximise the routine release of information the categories have been set at a high level.

Most information that the Trust holds falls into the seven classes. However, this does not mean the Trust must routinely release all the information covered by the broad definitions in the definition document for that sector, only information that the Trust actually holds.
