Preceptorship team awarded National Interim Quality Mark
The preceptorship team at Solent have recently been awarded the ‘National Preceptorship Interim Quality Mark’ in recognition of providing a high standard preceptorship for newly qualified nurses.
Since 2023, the team have offered preceptorships to 125 clinical Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) and Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) registrants, representing five cohorts during this period. Each programme lasts 12 months and includes structured support, education, and pastoral care by experts from across the Trust.
The team were required to submit evidence across a wide range of standards before being critically reviewed by a panel from NHS England’s National Preceptorship team.
Jacqui Wilkinson, Preceptorship Lead, said: “We were delighted to receive the award in February 2024. It assures the work we deliver on our preceptorship programme and gives us excellent grounding to keep improving the offer for new registrants. We look forward to expanding our programme and fully embedding the Allied Health Professionals (AHP) standards for preceptorship in the future, taking the learning from this process into the multidisciplinary work for the new organisation.”
There are currently 80 people on the preceptorship programme, and the team look forward to welcoming a further 30 in April.
