Local community and specialist mental health service provider, Solent NHS Trust, is looking for a non executive director to join its board, replacing a member who has recently stepped down.
Applicants must live in Southampton, Portsmouth or wider Hampshire and would ideally suit someone with a desire to make a difference to the mental and physical health of the people who come into contact with the Trust’s services.
“This can be a highly rewarding – role for someone who has a genuine commitment to NHS patients , who has drive and passion to support and promote the work of the Trust as well as holding the executive team accountable for the delivery of our priorities and strategy, particularly in such challenging times for the NHS,” Board Chair, Dr Alistair Stokes said.
“Our board has a rich mix of skills and experiences in a variety of fields. An effective non executive director would need to be socially and economically aware and have confidence contributing to the development of corporate strategies,” added Dr Stokes.
Senior management or board level experience in a comparably large and complex public or private sector organisation would be advantageous but not essential.
The Trust has an annual turnover of £181 million and employs more than 3,500 staff.
As with other public sector organisations, the NHS is faced with financial challenges – locally and nationally. The need for non executive directors who are financially literate and are comfortable working with financial information has, therefore, become even more imperative than ever before.
The time commitment is a minimum of two and a half days each month and remuneration is £6,157 pa.

The closing date for applications is 11am on 6 July 2017. Applications must be made direct to firstname.lastname@example.org
