Hosted from 10.00am to 5.00pm within The Country Cottage, St James’ Hospital, the Summer Fete offered a variety of activities to local residents including a BBQ, bouncy castle, face painting, a raffle, magic show and much more.
Jo Lawson, Solent Healthcare’s Lead Nurse for Adolescent Health in Portsmouth, said: “Everyone had a fantastic day and we raised over £280 to be split between charities RSPCA and Naomi House and to help fund the Check It Out youth forum. Check It Out is a health forum for young people in Portsmouth which aims to help make health services accessible to teenagers – they definitely gave this event a healthy thumbs up!
She added: “It was great to see the local community come and join staff and youth forum members for an enjoyable and entertaining day out. There were loads of great activities including a bouncy castle, face painting, treasure hunt, BBQ and a magic show. We are really pleased have hosted this summer fete with our youth forum, Check It Out. We really value local residents’ feedback on Solent Healthcare’s services and are glad to be working in partnership with young people in Portsmouth.”
Check It Out members are aged between 11 and 19; they come together every month to discuss teenage health. They also go into health services in Portsmouth to assess whether they meet quality criteria.
